How It Works – Using CAD Block Libraries with AutoCAD Design Center
How It Works
Our CAD block libraries are organized into category-based .DWG files designed to work seamlessly with AutoCAD's Design Center. Instead of managing hundreds of individual block files, all blocks of the same type are grouped into a single drawing — for example, all chair blocks are stored in one file called Chairs.dwg.
This structure lets you open Design Center, navigate to the category file, click Blocks, and instantly see previews of every block in that file. Using AutoCAD Design Center helps you organize, preview, and insert blocks far faster than the standard Insert command — with no clutter from thousands of loose files.
Visualizing the Library Structure
The screenshot below shows AutoCAD 2008 with Design Center open, demonstrating how the libraries are organized and displayed:
Library Folder Structure
Each library category appears as a folder. Inside each folder are drawing files specific to that category — for example, the Appliances folder contains files like Washers & Dryers.dwg, Refrigerators.dwg, and Range Tops.dwg.
Browsing & Inserting Blocks
Within each drawing file, all block definitions are displayed in Design Center when you click the Blocks icon. You can scroll through the previews, then drag and drop any block directly into your drawing, or double-click it to open the Insert dialog for additional options like Scale and Rotation.
Compatibility
All libraries are saved in AutoCAD 2000 .DWG format, ensuring compatibility with all versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT from 2000 to the latest release.
Always Growing
We continuously add new CAD block libraries and symbols — including the latest appliances, plumbing fixtures, electrical symbols, furniture, and more — so your drawings always use current, professional-grade assets.
